The desert house explores natural ways to create a comfortable living environment. The design focuses on the concept of solid and fills, where the solid concrete walls running North-South are connected with lightweight fill of wood and glass. The solid concrete walls block out the East and West sun, preventing solar heat gain, yet act as thermal walls which release the stored heat into the building during the cool desert nights. The corner- cutting floor plan blocks the direct sun light at the hottest hours of the day.
