Historic Charles Towne is an urban revival project driven by the Historic Charles Towne Committee. This historic part of town houses several gemstone businesses including the John Watlings Distillery, Gray Cliff Humidor and the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas. The area lacks connectivity in community, businesses and tourism and has generally been affected by neglect and crime over the years.

The Historic Charles Towne project focuses on reconnecting the area with the community in order to reconnect exiting business while also creating new business opportunities and bringing tourism into the area.

The art gardens portion of the project is a plot of land belonging to the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas housing historic ruins that are believed to have been a hospital in the early 18th century. The goal is to create a sculpture garden and to reuse the ruins as a welcome center, giving history a place in the present, while becoming a new connection space for the community.
