The thesis of “Living Walls: A cultural palimpsest” explores the idea of cultural preservation though adaptive reuse. Using historic slave ruins in the Bahamas the project connects the old ruins with new architecture to create a cultural center. Old and new are connected through architectural features, circulation and experiential layers. Through the symbiotic relationship of old and new the historic artifact is given a present purpose while the new architecture develops a connection to the cultural past that are attached to the old.
