PH 7 is an aquatic center residing on a vertical line of distinct socioeconomic differences. The site topographically reflects these issues of economic disparity flowing from the high elevation of high income to the low elevation of low income. The design of the aquatic center proposes a place of equality and neutrality. Water, through its neutrality and universal human need becomes a unifying element to all different people of the community. Applied to the architecture, water’s phase changes of vapor, liquid and solid, dictate the circulation, program and structure respectfully of each other. PH7 creates a harmonizing place where anyone and everyone can share and celebrate the common element of water.
